Pathy: Dear Dr Shah, I have hair loss problem for more than 16 years. Some times i have itch and scaly dandruff. Now the scalp is oily and sweats lot. Become male pattern baldness. Ilke to know is it curable and restore my hair back

DrShah: the cure in terms of MPT would be to try and maintain you at the stage you are at, there can not be a re-growth of new hair.

swarnim: HELLO SIR. i am swarnim agrahari. i hav a problem of hair fall since around 5 years!

DrShah: There can be many reasons for hair fall, if you think you are loosing more hair then in past, you need to get a Anagen / telogen ratio check by a trichologist , if the ratio is differ then normal then it would be interpreted by expert and treated accordingly , in the mean time i advice you to oil your hair at least 3 times a week , drink at leat 3 lt water a day and follow a healthy diet

a1d1j1: Dr Shah, I have a history of MPB from my mother's side of the family, but really good hail from my father's side. I am 24 years old, and have recently begun to suffer from dandruff and minor hair fall. What can I do to prevent my condition from getting worse and developing into MPB?

DrShah:the chances of you developing MPB are 50 % the test is yet to be develop which can tell about your inheritance of weak hair gene, in the meantime to prolong you can start taking natural DHT Blocker like green tea and soya , have a healthy dietary pattern , avoid red meat , red wine and stress

sumit: hi i am 19 years old, male and suffering from hair loss for the past 1 year. i have a family history of balding.what home remedies as well as medicine can be taken(without any side effects) to stop my hair fall and maintain my hair at the stage they are..kindly reply

DrShah: Hair fall and baldness are two separate things , hair fall does not lead to baldness , in baldness specifically male pattern baldness which i presume your father is suffering, the male hormone attacks hair gene and because of this attach baldness sets in the front and top ultimately leaving a band of hair at the back and above the ears, there are test available now to determine whether you would have inheritance your father genes which gives 70 to 80 % accuracy it is very importnat not to do self medication and get an expert opinion

ashok: Hi, this is ashok, what can I do about receding hairline for male pattern baldness ?

DrShah: Dear Ashok please see the above answer

Rahul: i ma 28 years old, from last 1 year i am suffering from hair loss, none of my family members is having that problem,i m a vegeterian.Tell me what to do

DrShah: Hair loss is a very broad term if you feel you are loosing in excess as compared to the past let your hair be analyze by a trichologist who will look at the anagen / telogen ration and subsequently rule out any hormonal thinning, you can refer to my answers above for more information on diet .

Amitabh: Hello Sir.. I am having hair loss problems since 4 years..Also, I am having presently treatment from RICHFEEL.. But, I feel that on application of the Oil massage more hairfall occurs.. I do apply the saw palmetto oil too the next day morning.. Please tell me what to do..

DrShah: Dear Amitabh I request you to come down for a re-consultation and re-assessment of your case. mind you the hair which falls when you oil are the telogen hair which are already weak and waiting for a reason to fall which is friction and agitation caused during oil application , ideally it should not fall in excess unless there is underling problem

a1d1j1: What oils are best to maintain the strength, colour and thickness of hair? I currently use almond or coconut oil. Please advise.

DrShah: hair oil is the only hair and scalp conditioner in the world which our ancestor have given us for that matter any oil almond, coconut, olive oil and castor oil etc is good

haircare: does sitting in an airconditioned office have any harmful effects on hair?

DrShah: If being sited for a prolonged time and if you don't regularly oil your scalp then it is likely to cause dryness of the scalp which can lead to flaky condition which is dandruff

swarnim: Hey... this is swarnim. SIR i am suffering 4m hair loss problem since 5 years. when i consunlted the doc they said that its because of irregularities in my menstrual cycle. now m getting treatment from RICHFEEL CENTER nagpur, DR. AMOL BAGADIA. m following all what they ask me to... its been a year but no significant improvement is been seen! my hairs r thining gradually! please suggest me what to do!!!

DrShah: Dear Swarmin it seems you are having Female pattern thinning which is a progressive disorder which can slowed down drastically by two ways, A. by taking hormonal route or B. a natural path which is longer but devoid of side effects of HRT, I presume my doctor in Nagpur would have defiantly started dongquai / Black chosh which are proven phytoestrogen along with the dietary habits like flex seeds walnut and green tea

Amitabh: Sir, please tell me whether the hair which fall off during application of the oil.. Can they re-grow from the roots? Also, the density of hair.. Can they increase? At this position do you suggest to continue with the same (Oil+ Shampoo).. Or anything else has to be done.. I also take the Serenoa Complex + Bio-Minerals along with Photobiotherapy treatment every 15 days.. (2-3 times till now)

DrShah: Falling hair has to regrow back the other medication which you are taking for MPT are the best as of now i am sure my doctor attending you would be doing a follicular count every 3 months to monitor your progress

a1d1j1: Hair Transplant and Hair weaving have recently been in the news with many celebrities going in for these procedures. How safe and effective are these to camouflage hair loss?

DrShah: we do not recommend hair weaving because in the long run it causes traction weakness to the hair it is tied to leading to excess hair fall, if the area of baldness is small you can go for hair transplant surgery if your donor area is good enough if not go in for a non surgical external attachment which now a days are available with very thin derma base which is porus strong and looks like your own natural skin, both these processes the transplant and external attachment are very very saf e

shilpa: hi dr, i am 39 i have problem of grey hair and that to are dry and lustroless.i have lots fo grey hair which looks very bad.iapply heena but that looks bad so what can i do can i use hair colour or hairdie?will it damage my hair.

DrShah: shilpa you are 39 , Grey hair is treated if its premature below the age of 30, above this age you need to camouflage by using heena or colour, both are harmful to the shaft of the hair, heena being the least damaging , in case you dont want to use heena then use a colour which is ammonia free and at the same time to protect the shaft from getting damaged start doing a deep conditioning treatment which comprising of hair conditioner, hair repair serum and a hair pack at least once a week

meena: Whats the solution for dru frizzy hair.

DrShah: regular conditioning of the hair by oiling at least 3 times a week, using a conditioner and a serum after every wash and using a very a mild shampoo with a herbal base drinking at least 3 lt of water in a day.

Richa: hi dr, is it better to wash hair in the morning before going outside or is it better to wash hair in the evening after getting back home?

DrShah: the choice is yours , you can even wash your hair even twice a day ,depending on the availability of water and shampoo !
